Title: WW2 German Soldier Memorial Card – Jakob Aidelsburger, 1942 Fallen Infantryman

Translation:

  • Front of the card:
    • “In God’s holy peace, far from his loved ones, our dear son and brother Jakob Aidelsburger rests. Corporal in an Infantry Regiment. Participant in the campaigns in France and Russia. Born on December 12, 1911, in Kühbach. Fell on March 27, 1942, during heavy fighting in Russia.”
  • Verse:
“Ah, it is hard to grasp
    That you will never return,
So young you had to lose your life,
    Our happiness is destroyed.
    Everyone who knew you mourns,
    And even your loyal heart
Now presses our hands in silent grief
    In this deep sorrow.
You, good heart, rest now in peace,
Forever mourned by your loved ones.”
  • Back of the card:
    “Be comforted, my son…
‘I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me will live, even though they die; and everyone who lives and believes in me will never die.’ (John 11:25)”
