WW2 Netherlands Dutch M34 Helmet German Luftschutz Reissued

This is an authentic WW2 Dutch M34 Helmet, reissued by the German Luftschutz (Air Protection) during the German occupation of the Netherlands. Originally produced for the Dutch military, the M34 was designed with a distinctive flared skirt and smooth, rolled edges, offering enhanced protection for soldiers in the field.
Following the German invasion of the Netherlands in May 1940, large stockpiles of Dutch military equipment, including these helmets, were seized and repurposed for German use. This helmet reflects that transition, featuring a Luftschutz decal applied prominently on the front—a silver-painted winged emblem over a shield, typical of German civil defense units during the war. The Luftschutz was responsible for air raid protection and civil defense, operating throughout occupied Europe.
The helmet retains its original dark green Dutch paint underneath, with evidence of wartime use such as scuffs and surface wear. Inside, the helmet features a modified liner system adapted to German standards, along with the original chinstrap. The liner shows signs of wear consistent with its age and usage, providing a genuine sense of history.
This helmet is a remarkable artifact representing both the Dutch military pre-occupation and the German adaptation of captured equipment during WWII, making it a significant collectible for those interested in World War II history, militaria, and occupation-era relics.
