WW2 Era US Army 82nd Airborne Division 1st Brigade HHC Paratrooper Oval Patch

This original Airborne oval (also known as an airborne background trimming) is a finely embroidered example representing the 1st Brigade Headquarters and Headquarters Company (HHC) of the legendary 82nd Airborne Division. The red, white, and blue color scheme—officially registered for the 1st Brigade HHC—was worn behind the paratrooper qualification badge when affixed to the uniform, signifying both Airborne status and unit affiliation. This example is uniform-removed and exhibits the telltale stitch holes where wings were once mounted.

The 82nd Airborne Division was one of the most celebrated formations of the US Army during World War II. Activated in 1942 as the first Airborne Division, it gained immediate fame through its combat jumps into Sicily, Salerno, Normandy (D-Day), and Operation Market Garden. Nicknamed the “All American” Division, the 82nd played a critical role in liberating Europe and establishing airborne warfare as a vital military doctrine.
