This particular jacket is constructed in OD wool serge and remains in excellent condition, complete with a full matching wool shirt and tie set. The jacket is size 36 Regular and features period-correct detailing throughout. Of special note is the theater-made USAREUR shoulder sleeve insignia (SSI), executed in finely hand-embroidered bullion thread on a blue felt background. The patch design—featuring a flaming sword beneath a rainbow arch—symbolizes European postwar occupation and readiness, and was worn by personnel assigned to the newly formed US Army Europe beginning in 1945. The bullion construction suggests this insignia was produced by local tailors, likely in occupied Germany, and intended for formal or dress wear. Additional insignia includes cut-edge Staff Sergeant chevrons on both sleeves and US/Infantry branch collar discs. The left chest displays a hand-sewn ribbon bar featuring the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, and World War II Victory Medal.
