In early 1945, the regiment participated in the final push into Germany, crossing the Rhine River and advancing through central Germany as part of the drive toward Leipzig and the Elbe River. By war’s end, the 9th Infantry Regiment had fought continuously from Normandy to the heart of Germany, sustaining its longstanding reputation for discipline, endurance, and offensive capability.
