WW2 German NS-Frauenschaft Membership Badge – Nationalsozialistische Frauenschaft Enamel Pin (M1/102 Frank & Reif Stuttgart)

This is an original triangular enamel badge of the Nationalsozialistische Frauenschaft (NSF), or National Socialist Women’s League, worn by members of the Nazi Party’s official women’s organization. The NSF was founded in 1931 and played a central role in the regime’s ideological apparatus, organizing women around the principles of racial nationalism, domestic service, and loyalty to the state.

The badge features a black enamel field bordered in silver, with a prominent Lebensrune (life rune) below a sunwheel swastika—symbols used by the SS and other racial-political institutions within the Third Reich to evoke supposed ancient Germanic heritage. The upper border bears the red Gothic script inscription “NS-Frauenschaft.” This design was intended to reflect the NSF’s emphasis on racial ideology and the völkisch role of women as mothers and stewards of the German home front.

The reverse is clearly marked with the Reichszeugmeisterei (RZM) logo and the maker code M1/102, identifying it as a wartime production by Frank & Reif of Stuttgart. The original vertical pin attachment is intact and functional.

NSF members were involved in a wide range of activities including home economics instruction, child welfare programs, political indoctrination, and war-time civil mobilization. While not a combatant organization, the NS-Frauenschaft was instrumental in normalizing Nazi ideology across German society, particularly through its extensive work with mothers, youth, and household education.

Badges like this one served not only as membership insignia but also as ideological emblems, reinforcing the wearer’s identity as a devoted participant in the Nazi movement. Surviving examples remain key artifacts of the social machinery that sustained the regime from within the civilian population.
