Description

This is an authentic WW2 U.S. Army Carlisle Model First Aid Packet, neatly housed within its original canvas pouch. The pouch is marked “B.A.C.O. 1942,” indicating its production during the height of World War 2. Inside, you’ll find the metal tin labeled “First-Aid Packet, U.S. Govt. Carlisle Model,” containing a dressing with Crystalline Sulfanilamide. The text on the tin is clearly stamped: “Bauer & Black, Div. of the Kendall Co. Chicago.”

The canvas pouch features the classic U.S. military design with a durable, textured surface, equipped with a metal snap closure and metal belt hook on the back, making it easy to attach to a soldier’s gear. The inside flap of the pouch bears markings that further authenticate its origin and wartime use. The olive drab tin, although showing signs of use, remains well-preserved, with the instructions for use stamped on the top of the container.

Historical Context: During World War 2, the U.S. Army issued these compact first aid packets to soldiers as a critical part of their personal gear. The “Carlisle Model” first aid packet was specifically designed to address battlefield injuries, particularly those that could result in infection. Crystalline Sulfanilamide was a groundbreaking antibacterial agent at the time, used to reduce the risk of sepsis in open wounds. Each soldier carried this essential piece of equipment, ensuring that immediate first aid could be administered in the harshest conditions of the front lines.
