This WW2 German ET62 M35 Overpainted Double Decal Helmet is an authentic combat relic, reflecting the evolution of German military equipment during the war. Originally produced with both the Wehrmacht eagle decal and the national tricolor shield decal, this helmet has been field overpainted, a common practice to reduce glare and enhance camouflage. The tricolor shield decal remains underneath the overpaint, faintly visible upon close inspection, while the eagle decal has been mostly scraped off, leaving only partial remnants. The helmet is named to a soldier, with “Tüch” or “Tück” handwritten inside the skirt, offering a personal connection to its original owner. The liner and chinstrap are intact, showing clear signs of field use with age-related wear. Manufactured by Eisenhüttenwerke Thale, as indicated by the “ET62” stamp, this helmet’s overpaint, wear patterns, and personal markings make it a compelling artifact for collectors, showcasing both the regulations of wartime adaptation and the human element of its history.
