Manufactured by Eisenhüttenwerk Thale under the maker code "CKL," this helmet is size 66 and bears the lot number 4677. The liner is a correct wartime production example, size 58, with original drawstring and stamping clearly visible on the leather.

The exterior retains its wartime field-gray combat paint, showing consistent wear and patina from field use. Most notable is the faint but unmistakable outline of the right-hand SS rune shield decal—removed in accordance with 1943 regulations ordering the discontinuation of Waffen-SS helmet insignia. These “shadow decals” are highly sought after by collectors, as they represent one of the last vestiges of Waffen-SS identification before the final years of the war. The distinct outline conforms to the dimensions of the SS decal and remains visible beneath the paint, with no evidence of tampering or artificial aging.
