WW2 German Luftwaffe SD M40 Helmet w/ Blood Stained Liner & Partial Chinstrap

This Luftwaffe M40 Helmet retains the majority of the eagle decal and original paint. The Chin strap is broken. The leather helmet liner features what we assumed is blood rot/staining. This obviously suggests this piece was probably a war time souvenir or a battle field pick up/bring back. We believe the shell is probably a Quist helmet but the pitting over the stamps makes it hard to properly make out. This helmet surely has many stories lost to time.
