WW2 German Luftwaffe Fallschirmjäger M38 SD ET71 Helmet, Batch 1235, KIA Bullet Hole, Named “Perlick”

This is an original WWII German Luftwaffe Fallschirmjäger (Paratrooper) M38 Single Decal Helmet, marked ET71, batch number 1235. The helmet carries a chilling history as it bears a KIA bullet hole and is named to “Perlick.” The liner inside the helmet shows clear signs of blood, further indicating its use in combat.

The chin straps have been removed, a modification likely done by the veteran who brought this item back after the war. The liner was missing two of the bolts that originally held it to the shell, possibly removed at the same time as the chin strap. These missing bolts have since been replaced, with their positions marked in the photos using a red pen for easy identification.

This helmet represents a remarkable and somber piece of military history. It speaks to the intense combat experienced by German paratroopers and serves as a poignant reminder of the realities faced by soldiers.
