Description:
This original World War II German memorial card honors Corporal Stefan Aicher, a brave soldier who fought in battles across Belgium, France, and Russia. Born into a farming family in Forsting, Aicher tragically fell on January 14, 1942, at the young age of 22, during intense combat in the East. Memorial cards like this were a customary way for families and communities to remember the sacrifice of their loved ones, with prayers for their eternal peace. The card includes a heartfelt verse mourning his loss and recognizing his courage. On the reverse side, there is a depiction of Christ on the cross and a prayer, reflecting the deep religious sentiments of the time. This piece provides a poignant insight into the personal and spiritual aspects of the wartime experience.
