This elegant badge is a Pre-WWI Bavarian royal honor badge associated with Prince Alfons of Bavaria (1862–1933), a general of cavalry and a prominent member of the Bavarian royal family. The finely executed crowned monogram “A” is surmounted by an oak and laurel wreath in high-relief silvered metal, signifying both military valor (oak) and civic merit (laurel). The ribbon behind the badge is the light blue and white of Bavaria, indicating it was either worn as a decoration of personal merit or a court uniform badge issued for ceremonial or honorific purposes.

While not an official state-issued medal like the Bavarian Military Merit Order, this type of decoration was often produced by royal command to be awarded or worn in association with dynastic events, royal anniversaries, or court appointments. These badges were typically worn by high-ranking military officers or individuals close to the Wittelsbach court.

This example remains in excellent condition, with the original ribbon and intact horizontal pin-back attachment. The silvered monogram is particularly striking and crisply detailed.
