French Commemorative Medal of the Franco Prussian War

FRENCH COMMEMORATIVE MEDAL OF THE 1870-1871 WAR. A 3cm diameter, bronze, dye struck medallion featuring the left profile of a helmeted woman wearing armour with the inscription “Republique Francais”, while the reverse has to the top, “1870-1871” and “Aux Defenseurs de la Patrie”. The medallion is suspended from a brass ball and ring. The original ribbon of green and black is included. This medal was established for those who served during the Franco-Prussian War and was established on November 9, 1911.
