Description
WW2 Imperial Japanese 7×9 Binoculars with Canvas Case & Strap – Marked Tokyo This is an original pair of World War II Imperial Japanese Army binoculars, complete with their original olive drab canvas case and shoulder strap. Manufactured by the Tokyo-based company "NIKKO" (as indicated by the logo stamped near the eyepiece), these field glasses are marked “7×9,” indicating a 7-power magnification with a 9-degree field of view—ideal for infantry and artillery observation during the Pacific War. The binoculars feature a rugged black crackle-finish metal body with textured grip surfaces, knurled focus rings, and clear manufacturer markings on both sides. The optics remain in fair condition with age-appropriate dust and internal haze but are intact and functional. The rubber eye cups are missing, and the body shows areas of enamel loss and handling wear consistent with field use. The accompanying canvas case is rigid and well-preserved, showing fading, staining, and minor fraying from wartime carry. The case retains all original leather reinforcements and closure tabs, as well as its adjustable shoulder strap. A field repair is evident on one side where the web strap has been reinforced. All original hardware appears intact. These binoculars measure approximately 5.25 inches across and 4.25 inches tall when collapsed. A superb example of mid-war Japanese optical equipment, this set would have seen use by NCOs or junior officers in infantry, artillery, or naval landing forces. A scarce complete set, ideal for Pacific War displays or IJA field gear collections.
