On 28th March 1941 – the Nazi puppet state of France – the Vichy Government authorised a new version of the Combatant’s Cross with the dates 1939 – 1940 on the reverse. The Vichy Government of France was in power from July 1940 to August 1944. The wearing of this cross was outlawed in 1944, and these days is a very hard award to find. Made from Bronze and sporting the bronze hallmark & maker mark on the reverse lower cross arm. This is a great example of one of the rarer WWII French awards.
